News: Fernando Meirelles’ 360 Chosen To Open The 55th BFI London Film Festival

Romantic drama 360, starring Jude Law and Rachel Weisz, has been selected to open the 55th BFI London Film Festival on October 12.

360, which marks director Fernando Meirelles’ long-awaited return to feature filmmaking, also stars Anthony Hopkins, Ben Foster, Jamel Debbouze, Lucia Siposová, Maria Flor, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Moritz Bleibtreu.

Written by acclaimed screenwriter Peter Morgan, 360 is a modern love story about what happens when partners from different social backgrounds engage in physical relationships.

Sandra Hebron, the current artistic director for the London Film Festival, said she was “very pleased to welcome back [Fernando] Meirelles and [Peter] Morgan to the Festival.”

Meirelles is no stranger to the London Film Festival having opened The Constant Gardener there back in 2005. The film, which also starred Weisz, was a critical hit. His other films include Blindness, City Of God and Maids.

The 55th BFI London Film Festival will run from October 12 – 27. The full line-up is expected to be announced next month.
