Cecilia Roth, Lola Dueñas, Raúl Arévalo, José María Yazpik and Javier Cámara are set to star in The Brief Lovers, an all-out comedy from Spanish filmmaker extraordinaire Pedro Almodóvar.
Roth, Dueñas and Cámara have all worked with Almodóvar before on previous projects (All About My Mother, Volver and Talk To Her, respectively), while Arévalo and Yazpik are newcomers to the writer and directors trademark unabashed style.
Plot details are being kept close to the chest, but with Pedro’s brother and regular producer Agustín Almodóvar describing The Brief Lovers as “very fresh and brazen” in an interview with Screen Daily, it’s likely Almodóvar is returning to more light-hearted fare that made him such a name in the 1980’s.
Production on The Brief Lovers, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed The Skin I Live In, is expected to take place in and around Madrid over the summer months, with El Deseo, Pedro’s own production company, eyeing an early 2013 release date in as many territories as financially possible.
