IFC Films have acquired the North American distribution rights to romantic comedy Save The Date, Deadline has reported.
The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to mostly favourable reviews, stars Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls), Alison Brie (Scream 4), Martin Starr (Adventureland), Geoffrey Arend (Garden State) and Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World).
Directed by first-time writer and director Michael Mohan, Save The Date centers on two sisters (Caplan and Brie) with diametrically opposing views on commitment who find their family bond tested as wedding bells start to chime.
Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Films, said of the deal: “We look forward to working with the team and this amazing young ensemble cast to bring this film to the largest possible audience.”
IFC Films, who release the Emily Blunt-starrer Your Sister’s Sister next month, will bring Save The Date to cinemas later this year. Fingers crossed a U.K. distribution studio make a smart decision and bring this sweet-looking treasure to our shores as soon as possible.
