Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) and Nick Nolte (Warrior) have signed on to star in action-thriller The Trials Of Cate McCann, Deadline has reported.
The film – also set to star James Cromwell (The Green Mile), Cathy Cahlin Ryan (Redbelt) and Amanda Petersen (The Gunman) – will center on a former hotshot lawyer who, in desperate need to reunite with her daughter, must take on the appeal of a woman wrongfully convicted of murder.
The Dead Girl writer and director Karen Moncrieff is set to direct her own screenplay. Sunrise Pictures and Pitbull Pictures will finance and produce, while Sierra/Affinity will handle worldwide distribution sales.
Due to enter production within the next few weeks, The Trials Of Cate McCann is being described as a real “labour of love” for the cast, crew and producers, and is likely to be released towards the latter half of next year.
Beckinsale will next be seen in Len Wiseman’s Total Recall reboot, while Notle’s The Gangster Squad was recently scheduled for a September released in the US.
