US Box Office: April 27 – 29, 2011

Think Like A Man topped the US box office for a second week running. Screen Gems’ comedy-drama, starring Kevin Hart and Gabrille Union, pulled in another $18M, bringing its domestic total to a very impressive $60M, almost five times its production budget.

Aardman’s latest claymation Pirates! Band Of Misfits (titled Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists in the U.K.) landed in second place. The film, which has been on release in Europe for over a month, made a solid $11.4M, disproving those critics who said its British humour may not travel well.

Meanwhile, Zac Efron’s risqué Nicholas Sparks adaptation, The Lucky One, dropped a place to three ($11.3), The Hunger Games held steady at four ($11.2) and the Judd Apatow-produced and well reviewed The Five-Year Engagement, starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, opened with $11.1M, securing the last remaining place in the top five.
