Peccadillo Pictures, the leading distributor of art house, gay and lesbian, independent and world cinema, have acquired the U.K. rights to five new films: Leave It On The Floor, Riot Girls, Kuma, The Arrival Of Wang and The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mum.
Tom Abell, head of acquisitions, said of the films, “these titles display a diverse range of film-making which signifies yet another direction for Peccadillo Pictures in 2012. We’re proud to be adding these films to our slate and feel they represent the diverse nature of our company.”
Leave It On The Floor, Riot Girls, Kuma, The Arrival Of Wang and The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mum join Peccadillo’s already impressive rosta of films, including Bavo Defurne’s North Sea Texas, Lisa Aschan’s She Monkeys and Oliver Hermanus’s Beauty.
All five films are expected to be released this year.

Leave It On The Floor
Directed by Sheldon Larry, and inspired by cult classic Paris Is Burning, Leave It On The Floor explores the world of underground ballroom dancing. The film made waves when it premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival last year.
Riot Girls
Made in 1983, but only released in a handful of countries, Manfred Purzer’s film about girls who are tormented by their headmistress, finally makes it way over the U.K. shores. Riot Girls features the acting talents of Angelica Domröse, Jocelyne Boisseau and Konrad Georg.
Kuma
This film about two woman from one family and the many secrets they hold, proved a hit when it premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this month. Written and directed by Umut Dag, Kuma stars Nihal G. Koldas, Begüm Akkaya and Vedat Erincin.
The Arrival Of Wang
Antonio Manetti and Marco Manetti’s acclaimed science-fiction film stars Ennio Fantastichini, Francesca Cuttica and Juliet Esey Joseph. It tells of a Chinese-language interpreter, Gaia, who’s called up to translate the interrogation of a mysterious captive alien from another world.
The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mum
Tara Johns’ coming-of-age film about an average suburban 11-year old who runs away after discovering her whole life has been a lie is currently playing at the Glasgow Film Festival. Dolly Parton, Gil Bellows and Macha Grenon star.
