Tomorrowland in part rekindles Disney’s family-aimed fare, only to tumble when a clunky, talkative narrative stops the peppy fun in its tracks. Bright-eyed teen Casey (Britt Robertson) discovers a pin amongst her possessions that, when touched, transports her to a futuristic utopia. Review: Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

With Star Trek, JJ Abrams not only revived the tired sci-fi space franchise from limbo, but also delivered a revelatory blockbuster, packed with humour, dazzling visuals and non-stop action. Sadly, however, lightning hasn’t struck twice for the multihyphenate, and Star Trek Into Darkness fails to recapture that magic, often becoming weighed down by a tired, lumbering narrative. Review: Prometheus (2012)

Moved to investigate an alien moon after coming across archaeological evidence of their creators (known here as ‘Engineers’), scientists Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green), backed by a trillion dollar investment from Peter Weyland, founder of ‘The Corperation’, lead an expedition aboard the ‘Prometheus’.
